TimeGrade plans to let the same subject form its own community in each place, where what people care about and how they talk can differ.
Cross-community ratings only affect cross-community ranking
Ratings from other communities only affect how a post ranks across communities. They do not change the author's community trust or permissions in the original community.

The plan is to show participation ratings separately for each topic, tag and community, and to explain the general basis for calculating them. The actual rules are still being designed.
Community credit and community trust are two different things
Community credit shows experience of taking part and what ratings are based on. Community trust is the basis for reporting eligibility and permissions inside the relevant community. Community trust earned in one community does not become permissions in another.

Under the plan, the platform steps in when there is a safety concern, a clear violation, or a report from a government authority. Otherwise, the principle is community self-governance.
Community collaboration aims to lower the risk of scams and false information. It does not mean every problem can be eliminated.

Here are answers to some common questions about TimeGrade's community product.
Can I join the TimeGrade community now?
Not yet. The community product is still in development and is expected to launch in 2027. No more precise timing has been announced.
Can I join a waitlist or apply for testing?
There is no waitlist or testing application at the moment. The website also has no account sign-up or contact form, and it will not ask for your email address.
How will posts be sorted?
The direction is for sorting by time to be the default, with popular sorting as something people choose.
Will the ranking formula be public?
TimeGrade hopes to publish the general rules and an explanation of scores. Formulas and weights are still being planned, and safety-detection thresholds will not be published.
How do communities, topics and tags relate?
A community is where people talk. Topics and tags help you find related discussion in other communities.
Does community trust earned in one community carry over to others?
No. Community trust earned in one community does not directly become permissions in another. Cross-community ratings only affect how posts rank across communities.
Who can report a post, and what happens after a report?
A community does not belong to anyone: it has no single owner or proprietor. Negative ratings mainly affect where a post ranks and do not remove it. Reports are handled in the order below, all of which is planned.
- Who can report: people who have earned enough positive ratings in the relevant community to qualify through community trust. People who have not qualified cannot take part in reporting. The requirement is there to reduce malicious reports from fake accounts.
- After a report: community members take part in rating it. Only when most report ratings pass the threshold is the post removed, as planned, and the threshold value is not published. If nobody reports a post, or the threshold is not reached, the post is not removed because of reports.
- When the platform steps in: when there is a safety concern, a clear violation, or a report from a government authority. Otherwise, the principle is community self-governance.
Will TimeGrade make scams and false information disappear?
TimeGrade aims to help communities recognise suspicious content and lower the risk. That does not mean scams and false information will disappear completely, and it does not guarantee that every post gets exposure.
